Hi, I recently bought a 1947 Wolesely WDII which was running when I bought it with a good fat spark, as I didn't like the colour of it I decided to paint it grey, I only removed the side panels, exhaust, carb and fuel tank, as it was running I didn't touch it mechanically or interfere with the Wico series A magneto, I have finished painting it and reassembled it but now it has lost it spark, could somebody give me some idea what the problem is.
    Thanks, Bernard.

Have you insulated the mag from the engine with a layer of paint? To check just run a temporary wire from the plug body to the mag body.

Hi thanks for your idea, I don't think it's an earthing problem as I left the mag in situ when I painted the engine.

Take the magneto off and test for a spark, if it doesn't spark then clean the points and generally check it over, if it still wont spark remove the coil and get it checked.
On the other forum the suggestions have been replicated here.

You are probably right but why not take a few moments to prove it.
