Does any know where I can get a used or new diaphragm for my Petter Junior 1922 oil engine please
An oil or olive oil tin, or similar, is a good source of steel to make one from. I do not know of a supplier of diaphragms.
Many thanks for the response Roland and much appreciated, that explains what the previous owner has done and I thought was a bodge. Needs be I suppose! However, not wanting to take advantage but there is an home made gasket between the cover plate and the diaphragm but nothing between the diaphragm and the crankcase. is this correct?
No. Should be gaskets on both sides of the diaphragm, each about 0.015" thick.
Petternut your a star, one last thing on this topic and I will leave you alone for a while. should the inner gasket have the inner circle cut out to allow the diaphragm to flex? and in these modern times would you use any silicone type material on the faces?
Yes. I don't find it necessary with new gaskets but it's your choice.
Many thanks Roland...…….and you help is very much appreciated.
