There are two major "Crankup" events at the beginning and end of the season plus a number of steaming days every month.
There is always something running when open but for special events the steam halls will be running, dates below.
Engines are running whenever the museum is open:-

| 24th - 26th May | Spring Bank Holiday |
| All engines running, steam and diesel Steam from midday on the 24th. | |

| 26th - 27th July | Steaming event |

| 23rd - 25th August | Summer Bank Holiday |

| 6:00pm to 9:00pm No admission charges The only evening event of the year, always well attended and a really enjoyable evening with steam and i/c engines in operation |
